Stove repair for the problems that put dinner on hold: a burner that will not light or heat, a burner stuck on high, a cracked glass top, or controls that are dead. We repair gas, dual-fuel, coil, smooth glass-top and induction stoves, freestanding and slide-in, across Metro Atlanta, from everyday Whirlpool, GE, Frigidaire, Samsung and LG ranges to premium models. Work on the gas piping itself is referred to a licensed plumber or gas contractor; if you smell gas, leave the house and call 911 or your gas utility from outside (Atlanta Gas Light's 24-hour emergency line is 877-427-4321).

Bake and broil elements, surface elements, burner igniters and spark modules, oven igniters and gas valves, temperature sensors, infinite switches and control boards are behind many range failures, so the repair can often be finished on the first visit when the part is in stock.

You will get a flat written price before we start. The $80 diagnostic is waived when you approve the repair, and the work is covered by our 60-day parts-and-labor warranty.

Common problems

Stove & range problems we fix in Atlanta

Tell us the symptom when you book; it helps the technician plan for the likely part. These are the problems behind most calls for this appliance.

  • Electric burner not heating

A failed coil or radiant element, a burned receptacle or a failed infinite switch. We test the element and the switch together.

  • Gas burner clicking but not lighting

Usually a burner head that is wet or clogged after a boil-over or cleaning, a cap sitting off-center or an electrode that is not seated. A dry, clean burner that still will not light points to the electrode, the spark module or the switch.

  • Gas oven not lighting

The glow-bar igniter is the usual cause: it does not glow, or it glows but has weakened so the gas valve never opens. A shutoff valve bumped closed behind the range leaves the burners working and the oven cold. We test the igniter under load.

  • Burner stuck on high or will not adjust

A failed infinite switch or a stuck relay on the control board. If a burner will not turn off, switch the range off at the breaker and do not use it until it is checked.

  • Cracked or chipped glass top

The glass cooktop panel can be replaced on most models. We quote the glass and labor so you can compare with a new range.

  • Control panel dead or unresponsive

A failed user interface, a control board, or a blown fuse. Some ranges lock the panel after a power surge and need a reset.

  • Oven not heating

A failed bake element, a blown thermal fuse or a relay on the control board. We measure the element directly.

  • Uneven baking or wrong temperature

A drifted temperature sensor, a failed convection fan or a calibration issue. We verify with a thermometer.

  • Oven door will not close or glass cracked

Worn hinges, a broken spring or a shattered inner pane. Hinges and glass are replaceable on most models.

  • Self-clean problems

Door locks, thermal fuses and boards commonly fail during or after a self-clean cycle. We recommend avoiding it before big cooking days.

  • Error codes (F1, F3, F9 and others)

Sensor, door lock, keypad and board faults. We decode and confirm before replacing parts.

  • Smell of gas

If you smell gas, do not touch light switches; leave the home and call 911 or your gas utility from outside (Atlanta Gas Light's 24-hour emergency line is 877-427-4321). Once the utility has made it safe, we can fix the fault on the range itself. A leak in the house piping is work for a licensed plumber or gas contractor.

Prevention

Maintenance tips for your range

A few habits that help prevent breakdowns, in line with what the manufacturers recommend.

  • Keep coil drip pans clean

Grease in the drip pans smokes, smells and can damage the element receptacle. Clean or replace pans when they darken.

  • Seat coil elements firmly

A coil element that wobbles in its receptacle arcs and burns the terminals. Push it in until it sits flat and level.

  • Check oven temperature with a thermometer

If it is off by more than 15–20 degrees, the sensor is probably drifting and can be replaced inexpensively.

  • Avoid self-clean before holidays

The heat stresses fuses, locks and boards. Clean by hand or run it weeks ahead.

  • Use the right pans on glass tops

Flat-bottomed, correctly sized pans protect elements from overheating and glass from cracking.

  • Install an anti-tip bracket

Every freestanding range should be secured. It takes minutes and prevents a serious accident.

FAQ

Stove & range repair questions, answered

Do you repair gas stoves?

Yes. We repair gas and dual-fuel stoves and ranges alongside electric coil, glass-top and induction models: burner igniters and electrodes, spark modules, burner assemblies, oven igniters and gas safety valves. New or altered gas piping, connecting or disconnecting the supply beyond the range's own connector, and any leak in the house piping are work for a licensed plumber or gas contractor. If you smell gas, leave the house and call 911 or your gas utility from outside; Atlanta Gas Light's 24-hour emergency line is 877-427-4321.

Why is my gas burner clicking but not lighting?

GE says most ignition problems come from a burner head that is clogged or wet after cleaning or a spill. Turn the burner off, let it cool, dry the cap and head fully, put them back in their own positions and try again; it can take 10 or 12 clicks to light. If a dry burner still only clicks, or no burner clicks at all, the electrode, spark module or switch needs service.

How much does stove or range repair cost?

The diagnostic is $80, waived with the repair. Most range repairs start at $180 labor plus parts. Elements, switches and sensors are among the most affordable appliance parts.

Why is one burner on my electric stove not heating?

On a coil top, swap the element with a working one of the same size: if the problem moves, the element is bad; if not, the receptacle or the infinite switch is. On a glass top the radiant element or its switch has usually failed. Both are standard repairs.

Do you repair induction ranges?

Yes. We service induction coils and power boards, and gas and dual-fuel ranges as well.

Do you repair Wolf and Viking ranges?

Yes, gas, dual-fuel, electric and induction models that are out of the factory warranty. Premium parts cost more, and the written estimate shows that before any work starts.

Is it safe to use my range if one burner does not work?

Generally yes on an electric range, as long as the element is not sparking or stuck on. On a gas range, a burner that only clicks can be left off while you use the others, but a burner that lights with a boom, a yellow sooty flame or any smell of gas means stop: leave, and call 911 or your gas utility from outside.

How long does the repair take?

Many range repairs take under an hour once the part is on hand.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes. All parts and labor are covered by our 60-day warranty.
