The Whirlpool radiant cooktop recall
In 2019, Whirlpool recalled 17 models of JennAir, KitchenAid and Whirlpool electric radiant glass cooktops whose surface elements could turn on by themselves, and on August 24, 2023, the CPSC announced that Whirlpool agreed to an $11.5 million civil penalty for not reporting the defect immediately. If you have one of those cooktops, check the recall before anything else.
